Tata-owned Jaguar Land Rover will build a engine plant in the Midlands, in the UK, at a cost of 400 million pounds, which could potentially create up to 2,000 jobs,as per media reports.

In a report published today, The Sunday Telegraph reported that JLR could announce the engine plant as early as tomorrow alongside UK Business secretary Vince Cable and it has secured financial support from the government to bring the plant to the UK.

JLR’s engines are currently supplied by Ford’s plants, including Bridgend and Dagenham, based in the UK. However, the car-maker now wants greater control over engine production as sales boom in Asia.

It is also considering an engine plant in India, the report said. The engine plant will be based at the i54 business park in Wolverhampton, which has been made an enterprise zone.

Under the leadership of chief executive Ralf Speth and Tata chairman Ratan Tata, JLR is investing 1.5 billion pounds a year on new products and has ambitions to ramp up production at its three Midland plants to 500,000 vehicles a year.

The company has already hired 3,000 staff this year, including a record 350 graduates, and now employs almost 21,000 people in the UK.

Gay rights groups, however, were preparing a series of celebrations across the country.

A full takeover of Suzuki Motor by Volkswagen is seen as to be unlikely after the Japanese company sought a divorce from a two-year partnership with Europe’s biggest automaker that was marred by disagreements .

German magazine Der Spiegel cited an unnamed senior manager at VW as saying he did not rule out a full takeover of Suzuki, shortly after two months of squabbling between the two companies came to a head. “First of all, (Suzuki chairman and CEO) Osamu Suzuki would not want to sell. VW simply won’t be able to take over all of Suzuki against his will,” Commerzbank analyst Daniel Schwarz said. Suzuki said last week it wanted to end its 2-year alliance after the German carmaker accused it of violating the pact by agreeing a diesel engine supply deal with Fiat.

CEO Suzuki offered to buy Volkswagen’s 19.9% stake in his company with cash on hand, but VW said it was happy with its investment and had no intention of selling. Spiegel said that once the alliance had formally ended, VW would no longer need Suzuki’s approval to raise its stake in the Japanese company, but analysts were sceptical.

Popular internet search engineGoogle and websites like YouTube could be shut down in Pakistan if they did not cooperate with authorities investigating crimes and incidents of terrorism, Interior Minister Rehman Malik has warned.

Malik made the remarks at the headquarters of the Federal Investigation Agency here while interacting with reporters.

He urged the websites to extend help to authorities to exterminate terrorism from the country.

The government would be compelled to block certain websites including YouTube and search engine Google if they did not extend cooperation to authorities, Malik said.

The Taliban and other terrorist organisations were sharing intelligence through the internet and it is imperative to curb these activities, he said.

Malik did not give details of the crimes and incidents of terrorism that the websites could provide information about.

TV news channels also quoted Malik as saying that he had issued an order for a case to be registered against the administrator of Google Pakistan.

The minister has faced criticism and ridicule from civil society and rights groups for several of his recent comments.

Malik had recently claimed that jealous girlfriends and wives, and not political groups or criminals, were responsible for a majority of target killings in the southern port city of Karachi

Actress Pamela Anderson says her choice of men is influenced by her sons, 15-year-old Brandon and 13-year-old Dylan.

“My sons influence who I date, but maybe as they get older my attitude towards men may change. It’s just when you’re a single mum, unfortunately I think we date for our kids. You think, ‘Who are my kids going to want to hang out with?’ Rather than who you want,”Pamela told OK! magazine.

The 44-year-old actress says she is single at the moment but is confident she will eventually meet the right man, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

“I am single. I like someone with a bit of an edge. Someone who’s passionate about what they do. But I guess I haven’t found that magical combination of everything yet. Someday I’ll find someone,” she said.

The actress is upbeat about playing a sex-symbol character in ‘The Dirty Picture’ saying it celebrates womanhood in all its glory.

Not just the audience, even Vidya was as surprised when the makers came to her to play a character like this. “I don’t know how Milan could have thought of me for this film”, confesses Vidya. But she has no regrets whatsoever to play such a bold and unusual character. “Before starting this film, I told Milan that I want you to hold my han

The filmmaker has decided to join the box-office showdown with SRK, releasing Tell Me O Khuda alongside the actor’s RA.One in Diwali

She was the first filmmaker to sign Shah Rukh Khan. And now, it seems that Hema Malini will compete at the box-office with the actor, whose first endeavour in Bollywood was in her directorial venture Dil Aashna Hai.

A source informed us that Hema has decided to take on SRK’s dream project RA.One with the simultaneous release of her film Tell Me O Khuda, this Diwali. The industry has since been abuzz with speculations about SRK’s reaction to Hema’s box-office showdown, especially since Tell Me O Khuda features a cameo by the actor’s arch rival, Salman Khan.

The source revealed, “For the first time, neither party are trying to sabotage each other. In the past, when Sanjay Leela Bhansali dared to take on the SRK starrer Om Shanti Om with his Saawariya, it created an unprecedented amount of friction and tension between the two parties. But, SRK and Hemaji go way back. Hemaji was the first producer to sign him for Dil Aashna Hai. Ever since then, SRK has had the highest regard for Hemaji.”

Reportedly, SRK has not allowed his personal equations with Salman to interfere with his relationship with Hema. “SRK has in fact been very supportive of Hema’s daughter Esha Deol’s comeback in Tell Me O Khuda,” added the source.

When contacted, Hema confirmed, “We had a meeting with the distributors and exhibitors, on Friday, and we all decided to go for a Diwali release. I was advised against it since RA.One is also releasing on Diwali. But it’s not as if people would want to watch only one film during Diwali. Some of the biggest successes have happened during Diwali. I don’t think we need to fear competition from anyone.”

Reportedly, Hema is not the only one unperturbed to compete with SRK. Even filmmakers, Suniel Shetty and Himesh Reshammiya, have decided to release their films Loot and Dammadam respectively, alongside SRK’s RA.One.
